Mission Statement:

The St. Mary’s PTU strives to promote a close relationship between the parents of our students and the teachers who endeavor to instruct and nurture them in a school community of caring, cooperation and spirituality. Parent involvement in our school enhances the development of the students and is vital to creating a cohesive environment in which to build an outstanding school for our children.

Book Fair
Chairperson - Lenore Emerson (205-0922)
Chair is responsible for getting the volunteers need to assist children with book purchases during school hours or after Mass on Sunday. She orders books and calls volunteers to staff the book fair.
 
Career Day:
Chairperson - Michele Raia (350-4630) May 2008 / every other year.
Chair is responsible for scheduling speakers to present different career opportunities for Junior High students. They will rotate through all 3 grades making their presentation.
 
Caring Angels:
Chairperson - Laura Winterich (255-9651) As needed
Chair is responsible for assigning angels to help with meals, transportation, childcare etc. when a family needs assistance during an illness, birth of a child, hospitalization, etc.
 
Carnegie Science Fair:
Chairperson - Vickie O’Brien (392-0729) Catholic Schools week last week in January.
Chair is responsible for scheduling and organizing event. They will call Science Centers for pricing and date availability. They will be responsible for volunteers and coordinating with the organization coming out.
 
Church Festival:
Chairperson - Paula Morales (205-0852) August
Chair is responsible for manning the PTU food booth at the Parish Festival, or work in the kitchen before and/or during the Festival.
 
Evening of Giving:
Chairperson - Marianne Misiti (974-2075) November
Responsible for coordinating the sale of tickets for special shopping event at the Great Lakes Mall. Also schedules volunteers to sell tickets to event after Mass.

Family Dance:
Chairperson - Stephanie Morton (257-2252) Catholic Schools week last week in January.
Chair is responsible for planning entertainment, decorations, refreshments and staff event.
 
High School Day
Chairperson - Cindy Wynne (974-0167) October 2007 / every other year
Chair is responsible for calling and setting up a date and time for local high schools to come and talk to the junior high students.
 
Jr. High Scholarship Essay:
Chairperson - Mary Kohl (350-7234)
To distribute, organize, and tally scores on essays written by St. Mary’s 6th and 7th graders. One 6th & 7th grader win half-tuition. Get three people to read and score essays.
 
Kindergarten Social
Chairperson - Marianne Misiti (974-2075) July
Plan the date of social and buy refreshments for incoming kindergartners and their families after 10am mass.  Refreshments : Donuts, juice boxes, water bottles.
 
Malley’s Candy
Chairperson - Donna Cola (350-9647)  Dec. & Easter
Internet Christmas Sale. For Easter send out booklets, flyer's, place orders and distribute.
 
Mardi Gras Carnival
Chairperson - Lisa Berrow (354-9508) April
Responsible in organizing volunteers to help with set-up, helping with cake walk or take down of carnival games. Help work in kitchen the afternoon of this event.
 
Market Day:

Send out fliers, place orders, organize volunteers to help with sorting of and picking up of food.  Organize volunteers to make reminder phone calls the day before pick-up.
 
Orientation Day:

Order and deliver refreshments to school and coordinate volunteers to staff PTU table in the Weaver Activity Center.

Responsible for connecting incoming families with established St. Mary families to answer questions and become a friendly face at school.

Parents Night Out:
Chairperson - Chris Lampert (974-7938) 4x’s a yr.
Provide food, snacks and activities for the night. Sent out fliers with information, and collect money for the event.  Organize volunteers for that evening to help watch kids.
 
PTU Pool Party:
Chairperson - Kristen Kane (255-3852) August
Bring canned goods to Vincent DePaul.
Canned good is the admission to the pool party. Get prizes from school first then supplement with $ store. Pass out 3 raffle tickets to every kid. Have them put the ticket in the paper bag of the prize you want and keep one ticket. Then pull the ticket.
 
St. Nicholas Treat:
Chairperson - Colleen Beck (974-8662) Dec. 5th & 6th
Get treats for St. Nicholas Day. Organize volunteers to help the morning before to put treats together. Buy organize and distribute treats.
 
 
Santa Shop:

Organize and coordinate volunteers to help with Santa shop during the Christmas Season. Responsible for ordering the gifts, setting up and taking down the shop.
 
School Supply Box Program:
Chairperson - Cheryl Zidek (354-3982) End of year and beginning of school year
Responsible for sending out letter and list of school supplies that the Small Business Consortium will supply students. Collect order form from school and send to SBC. The week before school, supplies will be sent to school in boxes with students name and room number on it. They need to be put in front of the class rooms. Extra supplies will be kept in a box with chairperson. When student needs it a request is made and chairperson fills.
 
Teacher’s Appreciation Luncheon:

Responsible for coordinating volunteers to help with the planning, set-up, clean-up and serving during the day of the luncheon.
 
Used Uniform Sale:
Chairperson - Dawn Hufgard (255-3614)
Organize used uniforms given to the PTU for resale and staff the uniform table the day of orientation.
 
Walk-A-Thon:
Chairperson - Kathy Buzzanca (974-7041) June
Responsible for coordinating volunteers to help with planning and preparing information packets.  Organizing and tracking donations, mailings, t-shirts, etc.
