Parent Advisory Board meeting tonight in Farrell Hall at 6:30 p.m.

 

Tuesday May 6th:

Meeting for all NEW Kindergarten parents in the Weaver Center at 7:00 p.m.

 

Wednesday May 7th:

All school Mass at 8:15 a.m.

Junior High Career Day from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Third Grade to visit All Saints School from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Chess Club meets today until 3:00 p.m. in room 19.

Photos of Our School:

A.  On October 16th, many local area high schools visited the junior high students via an assembly held in the Weaver Center to explain what it's like to be in high school and describe what the local schools have to offer our students.  To view the images of the presentation, please click here.

 

Ω.  St. Mary's Garden Club went on a trip to Mason's Landing in Leroy Township last week to conduct macro-invertebrates sampling of the river and explore the underwater habitat.  To view the photos of the trip, please click here.

 

A. On October 31st, St. Mary's held our Halloween parties for many of the primary grades.  Many of the students dressed in their costumes for school and paraded around the school with their class.  To view the photos of the students, please click here.

 

Ω.  On Sunday, the 5th grade students put on a presentation about various saints that they researched.  These presentations were held after each Mass in the Gathering Center at the church.  To view the photos of this presentation, please click here.

 

A.  Weather Forecaster Hollie Strano visited our school recently and was an honorary Knight, appearing on Knightly News, taking a tour of our school, and speaking with several of the students.  To view Hollie on Channel 3 discussing our school, please click here.

 

Ω.  The Western Reserve Historical Society was here on February 4th to discuss with the students what life was like for many different diverse cultures that were immigrating to the United States or emigrating across it.  To view photos of this event, please click here.

Ω.  The Spring Band Concert is taking place on May 13th with a showing for the students at 1:00.  Please contact Mr. Bell for more details.

 

A.  Garden Club is holding their second bake sale of the school year during lunch periods on May 15th.  Donations will go toward purchasing trees and flowers for the school.

 

Ω.  Field Day is being held on Monday, June 2nd.  A parent involvement letter was sent home on Friday April 25th.  To request a copy of this letter, please click here.

 

A. The last day of school is June 6th.

 

Scores from St. Mary's Sports Games:

Α.  St. Mary’s 8th Grade “A” team took second place in the recent S. Francis “Cougar Classic” Basketball Tournament. The 10 team tournament took place during the months of January & February and the final was played on February 18th. This team won their division and played against St. Francis’s “A” team in the final.

 

Ω. St. Mary’s 8th Grade “A” and “B” teams will be busy for the rest of February and the first part of the month of March. Starting this week (February 18) both teams begin the city CYO championship tournament. Additionally, both teams will begin competing next week in the St. Robert’s Tournament and the “B” team will be finishing up the St. John Vianney Tournament. It’s been a successful year for both teams and we hope they can continue their success and bring home to St. Mary’s some “hardware” to reflect that success. Go Knights!

 

A. Congratulations to T.J. Keane and David Thorne for being selected to the Lost Nation Aviator’s AAU Travel Team. This travel team is coached by members of the Lake Catholic High School Basketball Coaching staff and the Aviator’s league. They will play 5 tournaments over the course of April & May, including a Mother’s Day weekend tournament at Lost Nation. They will travel and play against various AAU and Travel teams from Ohio , Pennsylvania , New York , Kentucky , Michigan and Indiana and against some of the best players in the country. St. Mary's School in the Community:

Α.   Congratulations to seventh grader Tyler Winterich as he took third place at Cleveland State in this years North East Ohio Science Fair.  Tyler became the 14th person in the last three years to take home honors for St. Mary's at the fair.  Great job Tyler!

 

Ω.  Miss Hawk took several Junior High students to Kent State for a United Nations style debate.  These students, including Jesseca Keller, Joe Zbiegien, Morgan Richmond, Kara Jankowski and Jonathan Craven, represented China.

 

A.  St. Mary's students frequently attend the soup kitchen in Cleveland with Mrs. Mulig to help feed the needy of our vast metropolitan area.  If you are interested in more information about this, please contact Mrs. Mulig at 440-255-9781.

 

Ω.  St. Mary's Garden Club is planning another bake sale to help raise funds for the club.  Please keep posted for upcoming information!
