Biography:

Greetings! My name is Mrs. Jan Libman and I am proud to proclaim that I have been teaching at St. Mary’s since 1981.

Presently I am teaching third grade, including science for the entire grade. Previously I taught grades five and six English, Reading, and Religion. I have fond memories of those years!

My mother had a great influence on my college education. She wanted me to be the first woman in my family to graduate from college.

I graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I have a major in English and a minor in Speech. I also have taken several graduate courses at Kent State, Notre Dame, and Lake Erie College.

I married my high school sweetheart. David and I have two children. Lisa is a pediatric home health nurse and Douglas works in business securities. Dustin is our well-loved schnauzer.

I am a voracious reader. I participate in a teacher book club and I love to cook!

My greatest joy is being a grandmother! I have four grandchildren. Xavier and Jace are in fourth grade. Layla is three and Sophia is 16 months. I have many pictures of them around my room. Being a grandmother has taught me how precious children are.

At St. Mary’s I am very busy. I facilitate a program called Rainbows for God’s Children. This is a support group for children of separated, divorced, or very ill family members. I am also one of the mentor teachers. I help and guide teachers who need to take their Praxis test for licensure.

Grades three, four, and five have a book club that meets during the school year in my room. This activity is lots of fun.

Teaching Religion to the children enables me to practice and pass along my Catholic Faith. This is an awesome experience in the classroom. I am also a Eucharistic Minister.

I hope you have learned a little bit more about “Me” as a person who teaches your children. I am very fulfilled with my career as a Catholic teacher at St. Mary’s.

                                 Yours in Christ

                                  Mrs. Jan Libman
