Biography:

I am currently beginning my 26th year of teaching at St. Mary of the Assumption School. Following graduation from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, I began my career at St. Jerome School in Cleveland teaching sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Math for two years.  After spending eight years at home with our little ones, I joined our three daughters at St. Mary’s.  I returned to teaching as the 5th and 6th grade Math and Religion teacher for eleven years.  In 1995, following the birth of our son, I initiated the K-8 Music program at St. Mary’s which included directing two Musical productions and one or two class plays each year. Gradually I added Remedial Math classes to my job description as well.  I returned to junior high eight years ago to teach Religion full time and the last seven years I have been the Math teacher.  Believe it or not, there is quite a close relationship between Music and Math, and for me Religion and Music go hand in hand… heart and soul!  I am lucky to be involved with subjects and a vocation for which I have a passion!

Most of my years here at St. Mary’s I have directed at least one Church choir including adult, teen and children’s groups. The current youth choir has approximately 40 participants from grades three through ten from the day school, PSR and the area high schools. We sing twice a month at 4:30 Mass, for special occasions and holydays and at school Liturgies.

I enjoy working with my students in various capacities whether planning retreats, celebrating Mass at a nearby nursing home with Fr. Tom, Deacon Joe and the residents, guiding student accompanists and serving as songleader at school Liturgies or driving my students to St. Pat’s soup kitchen.

Free moments are rare!  Cheering for our son as he pitches, hits, fields, dribbles, shoots, or kicks a ball is always exciting.  Watching the Tribe or the Cavs is entertaining.  Reading, playing board games, and solving word or number puzzles is a favorite way to relax.  Spending time with my husband, son, daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren is always precious!
