WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN

1. CURRICULUM

A. RELIGION - We will use the "Christ Our Life" God Loves Us Program. Through this program the children will be aware of God’s love for them and the wonderful world around them.

B. MATH – We use Saxon Math. Includes a meeting board where we practice a variety of math skills daily, counting, sequencing etc. Most of our math is hands-on.

C. PHONICS - We use Saxon Phonics. A worksheet will be done daily.

D. HANDWRITING - We follow the Zaner-Bloser Alphabet. As we take each letter in Phonics, we will learn to write that letter.

E. SCIENCE, HEALTH AND SOCIAL STUDIES - We have the Scitt Kit Program for Science. With each lesson the children have  their kit to bring home and after the unit is completed their pages from their Lab Book will come home.

2. DISCIPLINE

A. Rules of discipline are posted in the classroom and we go over them daily.

B. If there is a problem, I will contact you either by phone or a note will come home to alert you of any daily problems. Children are taught to handle their conflicts using Conflict Management. Sorry cards will be used by the children to make themselves and you aware of choices they made that were inappropriate.

3. GENERAL INFORMATION

A. HOMEWORK - Your child will have homework. It is reinforcement ( practice) of what they are learning. In the beginning it

will be practicing writing their name, letter writing, etc. Also, sight words are given each night.

B. MONEY - All money brought to school by your child should be put in an envelope marked with his/her name on it and the money purpose.

C. TRANSPORTATION - If your child will not be returning home by normal transportation ( bus, car, etc.) please send a note to me. Please notify the school if a permanent change in transportation occurs.

D. CAR RIDERS - Please remember that drop off time is no sooner than 7:25 a.m.

E. SCHOLASTIC BOOKS - At times, Scholastic Book orders will be sent home offering books written on your child’s reading level. To order, you complete and return the form along with cash or a check payable to "Scholastic Books".

F. SPECIAL EDUCATION OFFERS - Occasionally your child will bring home brochures offering special educational materials (e.g. HIGHLIGHTS MAGAZINE). To purchase such material, included order forms should be completed and returned. Please note that some special offers will contain a "NO" box to check if you are not interested.  Please check this box if you are not placing an order and sign and return the form to school. Our class can receive free products for submitting a specific number of forms.
