Mrs. Novogurski spent her childhood growing up in
Massachusetts.
After high school she attended
Haverhill
Community College where she earned
an Associates in Arts degree.
She married Mr. Novogurski after graduating from the two year
college. They moved to
Ohio
where she studied for her Bachelor of Science degree in education at
Cleveland
State University.
With her teaching certificate she worked for Wickliffe City
Schools as a substitute teacher and a tutor. She also worked with
handicapped children in Euclid.
In 1979, the Novogurski’s had their first child,
John, and had to move to the Philadelphia
area. In 1983, their second
child , Anne, was born. The
family moved back to
Ohio during the summer of 1986 and
in the fall of 1986 John started second grade at St Mary.
Mrs. Novogurski spent the next eleven years as a parent volunteer
while John and Anne attended St. Mary.
Mrs. Novogurski was also active in other parish
activities; volunteering at the festival,and being a Confirmation group
leader. Girl Scouts was also
one of her volunteer positions.
She took care a very active role as unit registrar, St Mary
organizer, troop leader, and coordinator of summer camp crafts.
In 1997, Mrs. Novogurski renewed her teaching
license so she could substitute teach at St. Mary – Mentor, St. Mary –
Painesville, and St Anselm – Chesterland.
She took the position of second grade reading teacher in the fall
of 1999 at St. Mary. She
took graduate level classes at Lake Erie
College while holding the reading
teacher position for two years.
The Jr. High Language Arts teaching position became available in
2001 and Mrs. Novogurski took the job of teaching the older students.
Mrs. Novogurski has been in Room 21 teaching
Reading and English to the sixth grade since
2001. There have been
changes in the seventh grade Language Arts program.
She taught one of the seventh grade classes
Reading
and English for five years.
In 2006, the seventh grade language arts program changed and Mrs.
Novogurski teaches taught both seventh grade classes English through
June 2008.
For the 2008-2009 school year St. Mary School has re-vamped the jr. high
program. Mrs. Novogurski, in
addition to teaching sixth grade Languages Arts will also teach sixth
grade Social Sudies
